Yvonne Gage, Cheryl Wilson, Jeff Morrow, vocals Jim Gailloreto, saxophone & flute Henry Johnson, guitar Roger Harris, piano Scott Mason, bass Paul Wertico, drums The music of Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim arrived in the consciousness of America in the summer of 1964 when his "Garota de Ipanema" topped the Billboard charts for two weeks. Since then, his music, and that of other Bossa Nova composers, has pervaded jazz. This recital will include some of Jobim's favorites that have entered the repertoire as well as other, less well-known compositions that deserve a wider hearing.This performance is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required; seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests without a Roosevelt ID may be required to show photo identification to enter the Auditorium Building.
