Knowledge Ahadzitse: Becoming a CPA and Fighting Fraud Through the Master of Science in Accounting Program
Knowledge Ahadzitse is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Accounting at the Heller College of Business. With over five years of work experience in corporate and academia, he began working in technology consulting, transitioned to credit analyst in a bank and now works in academia by conducting research in risk management, analyzing STEM and other related fields and helping with administrative duties as a graduate assistant.
With a goal of obtaining his CPA license and exploring forensic accounting, he has a profound interest in accountancy and understands the importance of detecting fraud, money laundering (forming a threat to national security) and finding solutions to corporate problems while understanding the circulation of money in the system.
Knowledge enrolled in Roosevelt’s income determination, federal taxation and computer forensics courses to gain in-depth understanding these topics and how it can be practiced in a competitive in the business world. He worked in as a VITA preparer and assisted clients in the community. His services made an impact far beyond the doors of Heller College.
He is currently the president for the NABA-RU chapter (National Association of Black Accountants), spearheaded a team as the former vice president of the Ashesi Real Estate Club in 2022 and was the former ambassador for the World Literacy Foundation (Australia) to Ghana in 2020. He has also contributed to social service as an active member of the Ashesi Leo Club and an active researcher for the African Ethics Institute.
Knowledge obtained recognizable laurels in his field: Student Excellence Award, VITA certification, Buddy-Up certification, Bloomberg Market Certification, Central European University, and is a recipient of the Mastercard Scholarship.
The future of accounting is promising with the ongoing digitalization of currency, the increased scams and peer frauds, and application of AI in accounting and detection of money laundering and audit. Since there has been a recent decline in the number of CPAs (Certified Public Accountants), this field is a highly recommended career and in need of trained talent.
